Martin Compston

Martin Compston (Paul Ferris)

Martin is an award-winning actor who made his acting debut in Ken Loach's film SWEET SIXTEEN, for which he won a Scottish BAFTA for Best Performance. He went on to star in the popular BBC drama MONARCH OF THE GLEN, and a string of critically acclaimed independent films including: A GUIDE TO RECOGNIZING YOUR SAINTS, for which he was part of a cast including Robert Downey Jr which won Best Ensemble at the Sundance Film Festival; RED ROAD, for which he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the British Independent Film Awards; TRUE NORTH, for which he was nominated for Best Actor at the Scottish BAFTAs and GHOSTED, for which he won Best Actor at the Torino Film Festival. Other film credits include: THE DAMNED UNITED; SOULBOY; THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ALICE CREED and PIGGY. He most recently starred in hit BBC crime drama LINE OF DUTY, and the film adaptation of Irvine Welsh's novel, FILTH. Before his acting career Martin was a professional footballer.

John Hannah

John Hannah (Tam McGraw)

BAFTA nominee John Hannah came to prominence in Richard Curtis' FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL. He has since appeared alongside Gwyneth Paltrow in SLIDING DOORS and in both THE MUMMY and THE MUMMY RETURNS. Television roles include: Dr Iain McCallum in MCCALLUM; DI John Rebus in REBUS; Jack Roper in NEW STREET LAW; Jack Osbourne in COLD BLOOD and Quintus Lentulus Batiatus in the popular SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND and SPARTACUS: GODS OF THE ARENA. He also starred in the US series MDs, as well as making guest appearances in ALIAS, CARNIVALE and FRASIER. John most recently starred as DI Jack Cloth in Charlie Brooker's crime comedy spoof A TOUCH OF CLOTH.

Patrick Bergin

Patrick Bergin (Arthur Thompson Snr.)

Patrick is an Irish actor best known internationally for playing the menacing husband of Julia Robert's character in the thriller SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY. A Hollywood veteran, he has also starred in PATRIOT GAMES alongside Harrison Ford and Sean Bean and in JOHNNY WAS, opposite Vinnie Jones and Roger Daltrey. Other film credits include: ROBIN HOOD; FRANKENSTEIN; THE HUMMINGBIRD TREE; THE RIPPER; THE LOST WORLD and TREASURE ISLAND. He has also performed, recorded and produced music for a number of movies and has had a top 10 hit in Ireland with the song 'The Knacker', which tells the story of a person who recycles horse carcasses and turns them into glue.

Stephen McCole

Stephen is a film, television and theatre actor, nominated for a Scottish BAFTA for his performance as stand-up comic Joey Fisk in CRYING WITH LAUGHTER. Other film credits include: A LONELY PLACE TO DIE; NEDS; STONE OF DESTINY; THE ACID HOUSE and ORPHANS. He has appeared in a string of major television dramas, including the Scottish BAFTA-winning series HIGH TIMES and the critically acclaimed American war drama BAND OF BROTHERS. Other television credits include: MERLIN; FIELD OF BLOOD; SINGLE FATHER; TAGGART and HOLBY CITY. His theatre credits include Black Watch for the National Theatre of Scotland and the stage adaption of Irvine Welsh's novel Trainspotting.

Laura McMonagle

Laura McMonagle (Anne Marie Ferris)

Laura is best known to Scottish audiences for her lead role in Glasgow based soap RIVER CITY. For four years she played bad girl Zoe Cullen, and has since starred as Lesley in STV's teen drama BEING VICTOR, and as Janice in BBC Three's LIPSERVICE. Other television credits include STACEY STONE and BOOGIE NIGHTS, and films include IN THE PARK and LAID OFF. She made her theatre debut in 365 for the National Theatre of Scotland, and returned to star in Cockroach, a joint production with the Traverse Theatre.

Denis Lawson

Denis appeared as Gordon Urquhart in the cult film LOCAL HERO and early this year shot Rufus Norris's BROKEN, which premiered at the LFF. On television he is familiar for starring as Tom Campbell-Gore in BBC's HOLBY CITY and as John Jarndyce in the BBC's adaptation of Charles Dickens' BLEAK HOUSE. His many other television credits include: JEKYLL; THE AMBASSADOR; OTHER PEOPLE'S CHILDREN and SENSITIVE SKIN with Joanna Lumley. Currently Denis is starring in the BBC drama series NEW TRICKS, and has recently completed work on the science fiction feature THE MACHINE.

Rita Tushingham

Rita Tushingham (Rita Thompson)

Award-winning Rita Tushingham is most famous for starring in the critically acclaimed film production of Shelagh Delaney's A TASTE OF HONEY, which won her a BAFTA and Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival. Soon followed by a Golden Globe Award as Most Promising Newcomer for her star turn in THE KNACK …AND HOW TO GET IT. She has since starred in more than forty-five films including: GIRL WITH GREEN EYES; THE LEATHER BOYS; DOCTOR ZHIVAGO; THE TRAP; SMASHING TIME; THE BED SITTING ROOM and THE 'HUMAN' FACTOR. Her other awards include three Variety Club awards including Best Actress and BBC Personality of the Year. Born in Liverpool, in 2003 Rita received a Scouseology award for Lifetime Achievement from the City of Liverpool.

Clare Grogan (Jenny Ferris)

For the past 30 years Clare has worked extensively in film, television, theatre, radio and music. She made her professional debut in Bill Forsyth's BAFTA winning film GREGORY'S GIRL. Her acting credits include the films THE PENALTY KING and COMFORT & JOY, and television shows including SKINS; RED DWARF; FATHER TED; WATERLOO ROAD and EASTENDERS. As lead singer of Altered Images, Clare had world wide success with a series of albums and singles including 'Happy Birthday', 'Don't Talk To Me About Love' and 'I Could Be Happy'. Her first book Tallulah and and the Teenstars, was a children's novel about a girl who forms a pop group, it reached no 2 in the Waterstone children's book chart. She regularly presents on TV and radio on shows including The One Show, The Culture Show, BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio Scotland.

Daniel Kerr

Daniel Kerr (Young Paul)

Daniel is a young actor born in Glasgow. He made his acting debut in the popular CBeebies children's television series ME TOO!, before going on to act in the supernatural thriller THE AWAKENING and in Peter Mullan's acclaimed NEDS. Other credits include the television series WATERLOO ROAD, BEING HUMAN and GREAT NIGHT OUT. Daniel is currently filming alongside Angelina Jolie in Disney's new feature film MALEFICENT, due for release in 2014.
